(WORK IN PROGRESS) I've been exploring the idea of “self” and identity a lot lately and what separates me from others. With this idea I’m experimenting with the people I'm closest to and having them present as “me” through the clothes I wear, the makeup I wear and how I do my hair. And I, in their favorite looks. The exterior may be different but internally I see so many similarities with emotion, expression, and our needs. Behind the camera, you are revealed to insecurities. What side of peoples faces they prefer to show, how they suck their stomach in when they notice you are taking pictures of their body, they hide their teeth, etc. To try and counteract this I distract them by asking them to sing and dance to their favorite song or act out different scenes. Performing makes people comfortable. This way I am alike.
